The 7 Steps were designed and created by my friend and co-host Jacki Smith. The steps bring together the components of self-reflection, understanding, and wed it to the power of candle and magical intentions. Why did she create these steps? It’s quite simple; there are times in our lives when simply attracting love, finding a job, or receiving a financial boost is not enough for us. The change we desire is not just a temporary change; nor just a physical change, but a desired permanent change that Jacki Smith calls a ‘paradigm shift’.

Often, our lives (especially in the 21^st century) are out of control. The majority of us spend our time pursuing career ambitions, resources, relationships, family responsibilities, and sustaining our physical bodies. We are constantly living and reacting to the world of ‘busy, busy, busy’. We have lost touch with our ability to reflect, and make adjustments to our lives based on our inner work. Instead, many of us only reflect when we have reached a crossroads where some change, healing, and meaning must be achieved. The combination of the elements of earth (waxand magical herbs) air (intention, prayer and meditation) fire (flame) and water (essential oils) create a magical balance that can transmute difficult situations and circumstances into success and opportunity.

The advantage to using candle magic as the magical process for the 7 steps is the candle acts as a guide for the magical process. We light a candle, the candle burns down, and eventually will go out. Since my tarot candle line (Storm Cestavani’s Tarot Magic) was released (co-created with Jacki Smith) in April 2010, I have received many letters with questions about how to use the tarot for magical purposes. Many of these questions have been asked by clients who have little or no knowledge of Tarot. However, this should not keep someone from using the tarot as a magical tool!

What is Tarot?

Tarot is a deck of cards similar to playing cards that consist (usually) of 78-different images. These images have been created by artists and inspire different archetypal experiences that we go through in life. We all go through positive experiences, negative experiences, jubilance, depression, new beginnings and endings. In other words, we all experience life and the process of living regardless of whom we are or the social circle we come from. This process is what is beautifully reflected in the tarot.

What is Magic?

We need to begin by describing what magic is not. Magic does not involve twitching ones nose, calling ones son in-law Derwood, or crossing your arms to turn into a puff of smoke to escape into a bottle that sits on the mantle. That is Hollywood, not magic!

So what is magic? Simply put, magic is the ability to create a desired result by the force of your own will. In essence, it is mind over matter. This has been practiced by the worlds most noted sages and spiritual authorities for over 4,000 years.

Why is Tarot a Powerful Magical Tool?

The unique magical quality of the Tarot is its ability to be both a divination tool, and a visualization tool. Since the versatility of the Tarot is so complex these two different methods can be used interchangeably or separately, which opens up a universe of magical possibilities. Not only does tarot PREDICT your future, but it can be used to CREATE your future.

Tarot Magic Reading

A Tarot Magic reading is very similar to a regular tarot email reading. The only difference is that the cards used will pinpoint areas of your life that need candle magical assistance. For example, if you currently are going through difficulties in your love life a reading can be done that reveals not only the future of the situation, but what candle magic can be used to assist you through your relationship issues. Using the same aforementioned example, if the reading reveals that there are blocks and barriers that are preventing the relationship from opening up, you can then work magically to break those barriers and creating the energy necessary for movement to occur. What Is Candle Magic?

Have you ever lit a birthday candle, made a wish, and then blown it out? If you have (and most have), then you have already used candle magic in your life. Likewise, if you have purchased aromatherapy candles from the drug or department store for the purpose of changing your mood or creating a different atmosphere around you – then you have used candle magic.

Whether one is a pagan, Christian, Jew, Muslim, or Buddhist the use of candles as a tool for spiritual meditation is a time honored tradition. In fact, the use of candles for spiritual purposes has been around for thousands of years. According to Jewish mysticism, candles represent the drawing down (from heaven) the light of God, and becomes God’s physical manifestation.

One of the most notable religous faiths for using candles to petition (a fancy word for prayer) the will of God is Catholicism (however many modern protestant and judaic religions also use candles as well). Candles are placed before the statues of Jesus, The Virgin Mary, or Saints to represent a prayer request to grant the petitioner favor or to draw them special attention. The burning of candles is viewed as a continuation of ones prayer, and represents solidarity between the “saint” (or whatever Higher Power you believe in) and the “petitioner”. In essence, it created a “psychic” bond, which granted the “petitioner” what they desired.

In the 21st century the use of candles to affect or influence ones situation, one’s life, one’s mood and the future has reached an unprecedented level. In many cases, candle manufacturers are using politically correct terms such as “aromatherapy” candles or “scented” candles, but the reality is any time that you light a candle to “change” ANY situation you are using sympathetic candle magic.

Why should I use candle magic?

If you knew that you could take something to remove a headache would you do it? Of course, thousands of people a day take aspirin or ibuprofen to relieve headaches created by tension. If you had heartburn or indigestion problems, would you take an antacid? Of course, you would! Thousands of people per day go to pharmacies and drug stores to purchase products to relieve their ailments.

If we could instantly take something and it would remove all the energies around us that is creating obstacles that prevent us from getting what we want nothing would stop us from doing it. Simply put, a candle magic practitioner is an individual who has studied the components of candle magic to the level that they can create a candle(s) that fit your particular needs.
